Pics that make my day

Via Pete
Looks like those legs need some sun.
So translucent that I feel like I can almost see through them.
Think the Irish skin was in full force that morning to help me get in the Shamrock character.

Pete also took a pretty cool video and some classic photos of Sunday's race. He managed to capture everything I love about the day. BTW, he is toeing Boston this Monday so go on over and send him some well wishes!

So many awesome things going on in this pic that I don't even know what to say other than team "Shalane and Kara" kicked major booty for the day. Just out chickin' like it's no big deal.

Stay tuned for part 2 of that saga...

For the first time ever in my race history, I was snapped multiple times on the course with both feet off the ground. I didn't even know that was possible for my body. I've actually be working on smoothing out some of the rough edges with my cadence and gait for awhile now, and it looks like it may be catching up with me a bit. Maybe my legs can turnover better than I thought.

Awesome.
I was on a roll, two strides in a row!

And of course, my outfit choice for the day has got to be the best part of these photos. Looks like I'm going bottomless, which almost would have been a better idea than wearing the shorts I chose for the day. Felt like I was giving everyone a free show as they rode up my bum the entire race and I didn't bother fishing them out.

Thank you Marathonfoto, you made my day.

  1. LOL, re: going bottomless! If anyone can pull of that look, it's YOU!

Yay on the floating pics! Those are the best! :)

  2. I wore shorts like that during the Jim Gibbons 5K last summer. As soon as I started running, they went up and up and up until they had no where else to go. Oh well! Hope everyone behind me enjoyed the show and my amazing runner tan lines.

    1. those tan lines are never going to fade i think. they are there to stay. i know that i was giving a great booty show because i felt the bottom part of my bum getting a bit of a draft when the wind was at my back. we are just a gaggle of classy ladies ;)

  3. Love it!! My pictures are sad, as usual. I am smiling, but for some reason, race photos make it look like I'm on a leisurely stroll. An AWKWARD leisurely stroll. I promise - I'm RUNNING but they sure don't look like it :)

And my skirt slid down for the entire first half of the race. Wth? I half expected to get a race pic with me yanking it up for the hundreth time...

  5. Thanks for the shout out to my blog/pics! I'm glad that you had your pic taken multiple times with both of your feet off the ground. When you're flying (like you were), that will happen! :-) Love the "Team Shalane and Kara" photo. Maybe I will get a glimpse of the other Team Shalane and Kara at the starting line on Monday. I want to get a team together for the Shamrock next year, maybe I'll call it "Team Dathan and Meb"!

  7. Ha! These are awesome. Flashing people during races is my favorite. The first time I wore my strapless santa dress in a race, the top came all the way down around my waist in the finishing chute and I got a big crowd roar (I was wearing a long-sleeve under, but still).

For the record, I love chasing good butts on a run. I once followed a scantily-clad FSU grad for miles, and all I could think about was "If I keep up, I'll have her butt!"

  8. Way to float through the race, that is a lot of pictures with your feet off the ground.

your shorts do hide pretty good under your shirt, I bet you caught some stares from behind for that! I wore shorts like that for one of my Hood to Coast legs last year, havent done it since.
